Schnalstal Valley
There is only one year-round
ski resort in South Tyrol: the Schnalstal Valley. The valley became famous world-wide when in September 1991 the man from the ice,
"Oetzi" - the Iceman, was found.
The Schnalstal Valley was able to preserve its alpine and original corners despite the rise in tourism during the last years. In the whole valley you can still see traditional and wooden farmer houses of centuries ago.
The Schnalstal Valley offers a
glacier ski area, open nearly all the year round. The center of the ski area is
Kurzras, situated at the end of the valley. From there not only the cable car "Grawand" brings
skiers and
snowboarders up to the summit station but there are also a lot of hotels, boarding houses and apartment houses.
By the way, in the glacier ski area many professional ski teams prepare themselves for the upcoming World Cup season. A good reason for trying out this worth-while ski area, isn’t it?
