Ortler region
The Mount Ortler is with its 3905 m the highest mountain in South Tyrol. It was conquered for the first time in 1804 and looks down to the "superlative" ski resorts Sulden and Trafoi and Stilfserjoch (the last one is a summer-ski-resort).
Attractive Regions
The three ski resorts aren’t connected but a free shuttle-bus brings skiers to every Valley Station in a 30-minute-interval.
The most attractive ski resort is Sulden. Sulden is located in a nice place and connects three smaller ski areas: the two ski runs below Mt. Vertain, the slopes of Langensteinhütte Refuge and, last but not least, the easy runs of Madritschjoch Ridge.
Trafoi, hovewer, is the birthplace of the ex-ski star Gustav Thöni. Following his footsteps on the slopes maybe you will become as good an athlete as him!
And when the winter season finally ends, you may consider going up to Stilfserjoch, where you can even ski in summer.
