Ski holidays in Lombardy
In Lombardy and its most northern corners there are some "athletic" ski areas. On the one hand, there is Bormio in Valtellina, which repeatedly has been the venue of the Alpine Ski World Championships, and on the other hand, there is Livigno, a duty-free and tax-free high mountain valley at the Swiss border.
For ski holidays in Lombardy we especially recommend Bormio in Valtellina. Valtellina is still very unique and widely traditional as only little affected by tourism. Bormio (1225 m) is a typical mountain town with narrow streets and with lots of excitement in bars, pubs, boutiques and restaurants.
On the ski runs you’ll see Bormio from its athletic side: 50 km of slopes of different difficulty and one of the most difficult downhill ski runs in the Skiing World Cup. What else do you need?
Livigno, however, is located at the Swiss border and is especially popular for snowboarding: here there is the largest snow park in Italy. However, Livigno is a paradise for shopping, too: here you can shop tax- and duty-free!
